HDSB PA Day Agendas

On Professional Activity (PA) days, staff engage in professional development. Our school, along with all schools in the Halton District School Board (HDSB) have several Professional Activity (PA) Days throughout the school year. The purpose of these days is to enhance student success. Staff focus on professional development activities, participate in training or planning sessions. There are no classes for students on these days. ​ ​

September 3, 2024:

Topic: Provincial Education Priorities​

Format​:​ Full day, in person

Description: School teams will review effective practices, policies/procedures and resources prepared by central departments to support student and school safety. The content includes violent incident prevention, bullying prevention and intervention strategies, prevalent medical conditions, vaping resources, cellphone use and PPM128. Emergency safe schools procedures, safe schools incident reporting, accident reporting and special education health and safety procedures will be reviewed.

Facilitators: The learning will be led by principals and vice-principals and school-based staff, supported with materials and guidance from central departments including Student Mental Health and Well-Being, Safe Schools and Special Education

Learning/Delivery Method: ​Whole group presentations and small group work ​

October 11, 2024:

Topic: Collaborative Problem Solving & Social Emotional Learning

Format​:​ Full day, in person

Description: School teams will review effective practices, policies, procedures and resources prepared by school administrators and board staff to support student and school well-being goals. This planning uses techniques to make the problem solving process engaging and collaborative. Teaching teams will implement a co-plan/co-teach model for instruction across two school environments. 

Facilitators: The learning will be led by principals and vice-principals and school-based staff, supported with materials and guidance from central departments including Student Mental Health and Well-Being, Safe Schools and Special Education

Learning/Delivery Method: ​Whole group presentations and small group work ​

November 29, 2024 

Topic: Student Growth and Progress Reports

Format​:​ Full day, in person or remotely

Description: Elementary school teams will engage in Student/Parent/Guardian/Teacher

conferences focused on Student Growth and Progress Reports.

Facilitators: Elementary programming will be led by teachers.

Learning/Delivery Method: Small group conferences with students and parents.

January 27, 2025

Topic: Assessment and Evaluation Activities

Format: In-person or remotely

Description: Elementary educators will be engaged in assessment and evaluation activities including report card writing. This is time designated by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) collective agreement.
